Full-page screenshots saved as PDF or image, with a free basic version.

Add to Chrome Free, Pro upgrade available · Chrome Web Store · Maker site

Why it's a strong pick

FireShot captures a full page, a selection or the visible area, and saves it as PDF, PNG, GIF, JPEG or BMP. FireShot says the basic extension is free forever. Its extension policy says it stores information locally, on your computer only. The trade-off: editing and several power features sit in Pro.

What it does

You open a page, click FireShot and choose what to capture: the whole page, a selection or what you can see. Then you save it in the format you need. The Pro version adds features for heavier use, listed below. Check the vendor's feature page for what each version includes today.

Key features

  • Three capture areas. Full page, selection or visible area.
  • Several formats. Save as PDF, PNG, GIF, JPEG or BMP.
  • Free basic version. FireShot says the basic extension is free forever.
  • Pro extras. Pro adds unlimited-length full-page capture, multi-page searchable PDF export, capture of all tabs, batch capture of URLs, capture history, and an editor with smart annotations on Windows.
  • Local storage. The extension policy says it stores information locally on your computer only.

Who it's for

FireShot is for people who need full-page captures as PDF or image files and are fine with the free version's limits. It also suits anyone who wants Pro automation, such as batch capture. If you want simpler one-click capture, try GoFullPage. To compare tools, read Lightshot vs GoFullPage.

Is FireShot free?

Yes for the basic extension. FireShot says it is free forever. There is also a paid Pro version, which adds unlimited-length full-page capture, searchable PDF export, all-tabs and batch capture, history and an editor. Check the vendor's pricing page for current terms before you buy, since we do not list prices.

Does FireShot upload my screenshots?

Its extension policy says it stores information locally, on the user's computer only, and does not send it outside the computer. It may open getfireshot.com after you install or update. That is FireShot's own statement. Read the policy at getfireshot.com before installing.

Which formats can I save?

You can save a capture as PDF, PNG, GIF, JPEG or BMP, per the vendor's site. If you need a PDF with several pages that you can search, the vendor lists that as a Pro feature. Check the feature page to see which version includes the format you need.

What permissions does it ask for?

Check the install prompt. We could not read a reliable permission list from the developer when we checked. A tool that captures any page usually asks for broad page access, so read the prompt and the store listing before you accept it.

FAQ

Does it need an account? We could not confirm this. Check the listing.

Can I edit a screenshot in the free version? The vendor lists the editor and smart annotations under Pro, on Windows. Check its feature comparison.

Why is my long page blank in places? See the tip below.

Good to know

Infinite-scroll and very long pages can capture with blank areas, because new content loads while the page scrolls. Users on the vendor's support forum report that extremely long pages, around 300,000 pixels, can give a broken image. Scroll the page first, or capture it in parts. This comes from user posts, not a vendor guarantee.

Other screenshot tools to compare

FireShot is one of 5 picks in our screenshot tools guide:

  • GoFullPage: capture a whole page in one click.
  • Awesome Screenshot: capture, annotate and record.
  • Lightshot: quick region screenshots with in-place editing.
  • Screenity: record your screen with drawing tools (a video recorder, not a still screenshot tool).
