Why it's a strong pick

Wordtune offers full rewrites of a sentence, not only error flags. That helps when your draft is correct but clumsy. Its vendor says grammar and spelling checks are unlimited on the free Basic plan. The trade-off is the daily cap on rewrites, and a privacy policy that lets it use your text to train unless your plan says otherwise.

What it does

Wordtune rewrites sentences, changes tone, writes summaries and generates text with AI. Its help center says the Basic plan includes unlimited grammar and spelling checks. It works where you write: Google Docs, Gmail, Slack, Facebook, Twitter, Outlook web, LinkedIn and WhatsApp Web. The vendor lists Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Arc as supported browsers. It is made by Wordtune, whose privacy policy links to AI21 Labs.

Key features

  • Sentence rewrites. Alternative phrasings, not only fixes.
  • Tone changes. Adjust how a sentence sounds.
  • Summaries and AI generation. Available within plan limits.
  • Unlimited grammar and spelling checks. On the Basic plan, per the vendor's help center.
  • Works on popular sites. Google Docs, Gmail, Slack, LinkedIn, Outlook web and more.
  • Several browsers. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Arc, per the vendor.

Who it's for

Wordtune suits people who write well enough but want help with phrasing and tone, a little at a time. It is a weaker fit if you want a free tool to rewrite whole documents, because of the daily limit. For plain error checks, try Grammarly. For another rewrite tool, see QuillBot.

What are the free plan's limits?

Wordtune's help center describes a free Basic plan with a daily limit on rewrites and suggestions, plus unlimited grammar and spelling checks. The Advanced plan raises the daily rewrite count, and an Unlimited tier removes the limits. Limits and prices change, so check its plans page for the current limits. We list no prices here.

Does Wordtune use my text to train its AI?

Possibly. Wordtune's privacy policy says the text you enter may contain personal data and is processed in part by AI systems. It says that, unless a plan says otherwise, it may use input and output, anonymised, to train its algorithms. Read the policy first.

It also says AI21 processes data on servers outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, including the US.

Is there a plan that deletes my text?

Wordtune's business privacy page describes a "Traceless" business plan. It says that plan deletes input and output seconds after generation and does not train on them. That is a business-plan term, not part of the free plan. If you handle client text, ask the vendor which plan applies to you.

What permissions does Wordtune ask for?

We did not confirm the exact permission list. Wordtune's install page says you accept permissions when you add it, so check the install prompt before you install. A writing tool must read the text where you use it. Permissions can change between releases, so check again after updates.

Good to know

Spend your daily rewrites on the sentences that matter, like the opening of an email or a key paragraph. Keep grammar checks for the rest, since they are unlimited. Do not paste confidential text until you have read the privacy policy.
