Evernote Web Clipper alternatives

If you want to leave Evernote Web Clipper, five Chrome clippers are worth a look. Pick Obsidian Web Clipper or Joplin to keep clips as files you own. Pick Notion Web Clipper or OneNote Web Clipper for a hosted account. Pick SiYuan Clipper if you already run SiYuan.

Why do people look for Evernote Web Clipper alternatives?

Often because clips sit in one hosted account. Evernote's free plan, when we checked on 8 October 2026, lists 50 notes, 1 notebook, 5 spaces, 20 tags, 200 attachments, sync on 1 device and 1 GB of storage. Others want clips as local files, or a clipper from a note app they already use.

Evernote Web Clipper for comparison: it saves to your Evernote account and offers Article, Simplified Article, Full Page, Bookmark and Screenshot clips, with screenshot annotation. See our Evernote Web Clipper page. We list no prices on this page, because they change.

Is Evernote Web Clipper free?

The extension is free to use, per Evernote, but it needs an Evernote account. The free plan is limited: on 8 October 2026 it listed 50 notes, 1 notebook, 5 spaces, 20 tags, 200 attachments, 1 device and 1 GB of storage. Paid plans are Starter, Advanced, Flexible, Unlimited and Enterprise. We quote no prices.

Which Evernote Web Clipper alternative saves clips to local files?

Obsidian Web Clipper or Joplin Web Clipper. Obsidian saves clips to your vault as Markdown files stored locally. Joplin sends clips to its desktop app through a local service. Both are open source and both need their own app. Obsidian's images link to the web unless you download them, so offline copies may be incomplete.

Which Evernote Web Clipper alternative needs no extra app?

Notion Web Clipper and OneNote Web Clipper. They save to a hosted account, so you sign in instead of installing a desktop app. Notion needs a Notion account. OneNote needs a Microsoft account, and Microsoft says the extension is free to use. Obsidian, Joplin and SiYuan each need their own app running.

Which alternative is best for annotated screenshots?

OneNote Web Clipper has Full Page and Region clips, which save a screenshot image, and a preview toolbar to highlight text. Joplin Web Clipper can also save screenshots. Evernote's own clipper lets you annotate screenshots with text, shapes and arrows. We found no annotation tools listed for the Notion, Obsidian or SiYuan clippers.

What does Evernote Web Clipper offer?

From Evernote's help pages: five clip modes (Article, Simplified Article, Full Page, Bookmark, Screenshot), screenshot annotation, and a choice of notebook, tags and comment. Clips go to your Evernote account. The store listing shows version 7.41.1, updated 8 July 2026, offered by Evernote Corporation, and says it handles authentication information.

Is Google Keep a clipper alternative?

Not in the same sense. Google Keep is Google's notes app, with its own extension for saving page info, and it needs a Google account. We list it in our note-taking guide, but we do not compare it in the table, because its page describes saving page info and selections rather than the clip modes the five above offer.

FAQ

Can I move my Evernote notes to another app?
We have not verified an export or import path for any tool here, so we make no claim. Check each vendor's help pages first.

Which alternative is open source?
Obsidian Web Clipper (MIT) and Joplin Web Clipper (AGPL-3.0-or-later). SiYuan's source is public under the Mulan PSL v2 license. Notion's and OneNote's pages do not state a source licence.

Which alternatives need an account?
Notion needs a Notion account and OneNote needs a Microsoft account. Obsidian's docs mention no account for the clipper. Joplin and SiYuan need their own desktop app (and, for SiYuan, an API token).

Good to know

Keep Evernote until you have clipped a few real pages into the new tool and found them again. Check that formatting, images and links survive. If you picked Joplin or SiYuan, remember the app must be running for the clipper to work. (Xplorekit's own tip, not from a vendor.)
